What Makes Jokers Zoanthids Special?

Jokers Zoanthids are a favorite among reef keepers thanks to their bright green skirts and deep purple centers. They stay relatively small, grow in tight colonies, and add instant color to nano and larger reefs alike. They’re generally hardy, making them a great choice for beginners who want something flashy without being high-maintenance.

Target basic reef parameters and stability over perfection:

  • Temperature: 77–79°F (25–26°C)
  • Salinity: 1.025–1.026 SG
  • Alkalinity: 8–9 dKH
  • Nitrate: 5–15 ppm
  • Phosphate: 0.03–0.1 ppm

Stability beats “perfect” numbers. Jokers sulk more from swings than from slightly elevated nutrients.

Placement, Lighting, and Everyday Care

Jokers Zoanthids do best under moderate light and flow. Too much of either can cause them to stay closed or stretch awkwardly.

Placement & Flow Tips

  • Start them on the bottom third of the tank and slowly move up if they stay open and colorful.
  • Aim for indirect, random flow—polyps should sway, not whip around.
  • Place them on an island rock if you don’t want them spreading onto your main structure.

Feeding & Maintenance

  • They’ll grow fine on light and fish waste, but a weekly target feeding of fine coral food can speed growth.
  • Dip new frags to avoid zoa-eating nudibranchs, spiders, and sundial snails.
  • Inspect colonies during lights-out with a flashlight to catch pests early.
  • If polyps stay closed for more than a few days, check for irritating algae, nearby aggressive corals, or a recent parameter swing.

With stable water, moderate light and flow, and regular observation, Jokers Zoanthids can quickly become a bright, eye-catching centerpiece in your reef.
