What Makes Cornbreds Flaming Phoenix Acropora Special?

Cornbreds Flaming Phoenix Acropora is a high-end SPS coral prized for its intense red, orange, and yellow coloration with contrasting polyps. It can look dull in average conditions, so the key is dialing in light, flow, and stability to bring out its full “flaming” potential.

Ideal basic parameters:

  • Temperature: 77–79°F (25–26°C)
  • Salinity: 1.025–1.026
  • Alkalinity: 8–9 dKH (keep daily swing < 0.3 dKH)
  • Calcium: 430–460 ppm
  • Magnesium: 1300–1400 ppm
  • Nitrate: 5–15 ppm; Phosphate: 0.03–0.08 ppm

Tip: This coral hates big swings more than slightly “imperfect” numbers. Prioritize stability.

Placement, Lighting, and Flow Tips

Flaming Phoenix is a high-light Acropora, but you should acclimate it slowly to avoid bleaching.

Lighting

  • Target PAR 250–350 once acclimated.
  • Start it lower in the tank (~150 PAR) and move it up over 2–3 weeks.
  • Blue-heavy LED spectrums (14–20K look) tend to bring out the richest reds and oranges.

Flow & Placement

  • Provide strong, random flow—polyps should sway, not blast sideways constantly.
  • Place it in the upper third of the rockwork once acclimated.
  • Avoid shadowing from larger colonies; this piece colors best in clean, direct light.

Feeding & Maintenance

  • Maintain a mature, “dirty enough” SPS system with visible but controlled nutrients.
  • Target feeding is optional; stable nutrients and good fish load usually suffice.
  • Test alkalinity at least 2–3 times per week and adjust your dosing schedule before levels drift.

Action step: Before adding Cornbreds Flaming Phoenix, log your parameters for 7 days. If they swing, fix that first—then buy the coral.
